Hi, I'm Derek!

I’m a professional dancer who has been teaching Ballroom and Latin dancing for the last 14 years up and down the East Coast of the USA. 

I’ve competed with partners and students of all ages and backgrounds all across the country and overseas as I found my passion in Ballroom and Latin and other forms of dance. It has been my pleasure to bring the joy of dancing to thousands of singles and couples alike.

For me, dancing is a physical outlet, a creative outlet, a way to connect with other people, and a way to stay sane in this crazy world.

If you are in need of any sort of dance lessons, Walker Ballroom Dance is where you should go. Derek is an excellent teacher to dancers of any level. He is patient, considerate, and extremely easy to enjoy lessons with. My wife and I went to Derek with an idea of our first dance and he was there with us the entire way to make our dreams reality. My husband and I had the most incredible experience taking dance lessons with Derek in preparation for our wedding, and I cannot recommend him highly enough! From the moment we stepped into the studio, Derek’s passion for dance and teaching was noticable and his expertise immediately put us at ease. Despite being two of the most awkward dancers imaginable, Derek worked to tailor each lesson to our skill level, ensuring that we felt comfortable and confident every step of the way. His patience and encouragement were invaluable, and he never once made us feel self-conscious about our lack of experience. Derek was always willing to embrace creativity and individuality. When we told him that our first dance song was a non-traditional choice (Metallica, no less!), he didn’t bat an eye. Instead, he enthusiastically embraced the challenge, choreographing a routine that perfectly captured the spirit of the song while still being accessible for novice dancers like us. Thanks to Derek’s expert guidance, we were able to pull off a dance that exceeded all of our wildest expectations. On our big day, we felt like absolute rock stars as we took to the dance floor, and our guests were blown away by our moves. It was a moment we’ll cherish forever, and we have Derek to thank for making it all possible.
