Swing
Swing is a lively, fun, sometimes upbeat, sometimes slow and sensual, social partner dance originating in 1920's North America.
There are many types of Swing. Jitterbug, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Lindy hop, Shag, Bop, and many more. They all share similar characteristics and are incredibly fun.
Many of the swing dances have their own vibrant social community full of parties, events, and competitions.
You may even have a friend that swing dances and not even know it!

Ballroom
These dances are some of the original partner dances originating all over the world and growing in popularity to become an activity enjoyed by people of all ages all over the world. The ballroom dances are typically divided up into two categories- Standard and Latin
- The Standard Ballroom Dances include Waltz, Foxtrot, Viennese Waltz, and Tango. These dances are all danced to different types of music and each has their own unique character but share similar movements and techniques. They are often characterized by sweeping motions across the dance floor and passionate turns and spins with a partner in hold. Traditionally, Leaders wear suits and tuxedos and followers wear long dresses and ball gowns in a formal setting. While they may look old fashioned at first, these dances are surprisingly vibrant and energetic.
- The Latin Ballroom Dances include the Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, Jive, Paso Doble, Bolero, and Mambo. These dances all have their own unique character as well. They are characterized by lively and rhythmic music, sensual and flirtatious moves, and delicate body and foot actions. Traditionally, you'll see leaders in slacks and casual or flashy shirts and followers in shorter, more flirtatious skirts or dresses.
